How to Derestrict a DJI Avinox Powered eBike | Amflow Tuning Kit Guide
DJI's Avinox drive system has changed the eMTB game almost overnight. With up to 850W of peak power and 105–120Nm of torque in a package lighter than most full-power motors, bikes like the Amflow PL, PR and PX are selling out at dealers across the UK — and the first question most new owners ask after a few rides is the same one: can I unlock it?
The short answer is yes. Here's everything you need to know about derestricting a DJI Avinox powered eBike, which tuning kit fits which motor, and what to expect once it's fitted.
Why is my Avinox eBike limited to 15.5mph?
Like every eBike sold in the UK and EU, Avinox-powered bikes are restricted to 25km/h (15.5mph) of motor assistance to comply with road regulations. The motor is capable of far more — the restriction is purely software. Above 15.5mph, the assistance cuts out and you're pushing 20kg+ of bike on leg power alone.
A tuning kit removes that ceiling, letting the motor assist you all the way up to its natural limit
Important: a derestricted eBike is no longer road-legal in the UK or EU. Tuning kits are intended for use on private land and closed courses with the landowner's permission. Fitting one may also affect your bike's warranty. Please ride responsibly.
Which tuning kit do I need for my Avinox motor?
There are two generations of Avinox motor, and they take different kits. Check the marking on the motor casing near the cranks:
Avinox M2 / M2S motors — SpeedBox 1.1 B.Tuning
The current-generation motor, fitted to the latest Amflow models including the PR and PX ranges. For these bikes you need the SpeedBox 1.1 B.Tuning for DJI Avinox — full derestriction with Bluetooth control through the SpeedBox app, where you can switch tuning on and off, set a custom speed limit and see your real speed.

Avinox M1 motors — SpeedBox 1.0 B.Tuning
The first-generation motor, found on the original Amflow PL Carbon and PL Carbon Pro. These bikes take the SpeedBox 1.0 B.Tuning for DJI Avinox — the same full derestriction and Bluetooth app control, built for the M1's wiring.

The two kits are not interchangeable — the M2/M2S and M1 motors are wired differently. If you're not sure which motor your bike has, use our Kit Finder to get matched in 30 seconds, or send us your bike's details and we'll confirm before you order.
How does the SpeedBox kit work?
Both kits work the same way: a small module connects inline at the motor's original connectors and adjusts the speed signal the motor receives. No cutting, no splicing, no permanent changes — the kit is fully removable and the bike can be returned to standard at any time.
Once fitted, you control everything from the SpeedBox Connect app via Bluetooth:
- Switch the tuning on and off from your phone
- Set your own custom speed limit
- See your real speed and ride data
- Hide Tuning mode — lock the tuning so it can only be activated from your app
You can also toggle the tuning directly from the bike's buttons if you prefer.
Oh and we forgot to mention, these kits are backed by a lifetime warranty too
Is it hard to install?
It's a moderate-difficulty install. The motor needs to be removed from the frame to reach the connectors — around 1–2 hours with basic tools for a home mechanic. Every kit comes with full instructions, and our help centre has the complete install videos and wiring diagrams for both motors:

A few things Avinox owners should know
Ride at least 10km before activating. If your bike is brand new, put 10km on it before switching the tuning on for the first time.
Hold off on firmware updates. We don't recommend updating your bike's software once the kit is fitted. The B.Tuning chip can receive its own updates through the SpeedBox app which should help future proof it
Your display won't show real speed. Once tuning is active, your true speed shows in the SpeedBox Connect app rather than on the bike's own display.
