VOLspeed eBike Tuning Kit for Bosch Performance Line CX Rim Magnet Gen4/Gen5 (preorder ships 13th Oct)
Couldn't load pickup availability
New for 2025, this VOLspeed tuning kit is designed exclusively for eBikes powered by a Bosch Performance Line CX motor (Gen4 or Gen5) equipped with a Rim Magnet sensor (mounted on the rear wheel valve). Once installed & activated, it removes the factory 15mph (25km/h) speed limit, allowing you to unlock speeds of up to 28mph (45km/h). It's fully tested on the latest 16.19 software update too.
Unlike other kits, VOLspeed is a single module fitted directly to the motor. Installation requires motor removal but uses the existing Rim Magnet for a clean, OEM-style finish that is completely invisible. Once fitted it needs a quick calibration, it's then activated through your handlebar controller, with no smartphone or app pairing required.
Install Info (Read Before You Buy)
To install this kit you will need to remove the bike's motor. Specialist knowledge & tools will be required, if you lack expertise you should have the kit installed by a specialist.
The module itself is mounted in a specific position on the motor, as a result there will be a few ebike models that simply do not have enough space inside.

Depending on what motor your bike has, please watch one of these install videos before buying:

Important: This tuning kit is only compatible with eBikes that have a Performance Line CX (Gen4/Gen5) motor & Rim Magnet. It will not work with spoke magnet models or bikes fitted with ABS. Once active, speed readings above the factory limit will not be accurate. As a result, a lower distance will be recorded by the bike's computer.

Software Updates
Software Updates
Updating your eBike’s motor firmware may block or disable your tuning kit.
We recommend avoiding firmware updates especially through service centres unless absolutely necessary. Most updates are optional, and a working eBike doesn’t usually need one.
Keep in mind:
✔ Firmware upgrades can remove tuning compatibility
✔ Tuning is only guaranteed to work with the firmware version available at time of purchase
✔ A blocked tuning kit due to a firmware update is not covered under warranty
If you’re unsure, reach out before updating. We’re here to help you keep your ride running exactly how you like it.

Honest feed back. This is not really what I expected but is kind of working. Bike; Cube Reaction 800
I fitted the chip on Friday as per the instructions (having read them several times just so a knew what I was expected to do). Install was straight forward
The cavity space where the chip sits must be tight as this took a little giggling to get the bolts back in. I was being careful so this took a while to install.
Use; it is very annoying not knowing if the chip is ON.
Out on my ride I had an error code 523001 this code seems to coincide with undulating ground. this happened multiple times.
the speed display didn't seem to relate and occasionally when the unit speed showed 14mph the bike seemed to Lag. There was times when there would be no speed display (at moving off).
The speed display would only show max of 17mph even when going down hill.
Just wondering if the chip with the new sensor on the spoke may have better
regards Chris M
Hi Christopher, thanks for your feedback on this kit. One thing to note is that since the 16.19 bosch update, its important to ensure that the battery cable from the bike does not touch the tuning module. Due to the increased electrical current from this update it can cause an intermittent error like this.
If you require any assistance with the placement of the tuning module, send us a message to support@ebiketuner.com and one of the team will help you.
Just to address your point re the speed readings. This is to be expected, when riding above the factory limit the readings stay fixed at roughly this speed. Unfortunately it's a limitation of tuning any Bosch smart system motor, it's not possible to get fully accurate readings above the factory limit.
Best wishes
Team @ ebiketuner
Seeing as the Bosch performance line cx Gen 5 motor is newish and operates with the smart system I was very aware there maybe implications fitting a derestrictor.
The bike has a rim magnet so when choosing a unit the Volspeed jumped out as there are no additional unsightly wires to run.
Ordering the unit was flawless and infact it turned up earlier than expected.
The fitting was relatively easy, I found it easier to have the bike upside-down (2025 Whyte Kado Rsx)
Remove covers, disconect wires, drop the chain off and unbolt as necessary. On the Kado there is a plate to remove before the motor can be removed, bit of a fiddle but ok to get too, unbolt the motor and remove from the
frame.
Fit the unit to the motor using the longest spring clip provided and then refit. There is plenty of room on the Kado rsx for this unit so don't worry about space, rebuild and then turn the bike upright.
Turn on the bike and carry out the programing as invthe booklet.
And then smile when taking the bike for its first spin!!
Touch wood all seems fine, speed is set at 28.1mph, this allows me to ride the bike without hitting that wall at around 15/16mph, you can happily ride around 18/19/20mph. I have done a 20 mile ride and found the battery definitely used more than usual but I have been pushing it.
What I have found is you easily out pedal the bikes gearing, I use my bike both on and off road so if I could get a 38 front ring gear that would be a game changer!
If like me you need to get past that wall and have fun do it!!! Great little upgrade.
Perfect mod for my Cube 144.Race
I makes the bike come alive....
Cheers
Nick
